What Makes Us Feel Safe Today?
A Collective Dialogue on Security in Changing Times

The COMMON PILOT is carried out by all members of the ORBIS consortium, who bring together expertise in democratic innovation, research, technology, citizen engagement, and communication.

Context

This pilot will test the ORBIS solution by focusing on the topic of security. In a world marked by war, climate change, rising prices, and widening social divides, citizens are invited to reflect on what truly makes them feel safe today. The dialogue goes beyond abstract notions of security, grounding the debate in the lived experiences of diverse communities.

Challenges

Too often, policies on security are shaped without a clear understanding of what matters in people’s everyday lives. By creating an accessible space for deliberation, this pilot aims to lower barriers to participation and bring in a wider range of voices — from concerns about peace and financial stability to issues such as clean air, neighbourhood safety, and social cohesion.

Participants

The pilot is open to people from different regions, backgrounds, and experiences. Everyone is encouraged to share their perspective on what makes them feel secure, what causes insecurity, and what changes they believe are needed. The results will help provide decision-makers with a clearer picture of citizens’ real needs, hopes, and concerns.
